LEI (Legal Entity Identifier)
The Legal Entity Identifier (ISO 17442) is a global standard for unambiguous identification of legal entities in financial markets. Mandated by MiFID II, EMIR, Dodd-Frank, and the forthcoming IRS 1099-DA, LEIs are assigned and maintained by GLEIF (Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation). LEI lookup enables corporate parent-child relationship traversal — the most mature institutional identity API available, with free, no-registration access.
